Blue Ocean Bob - book review

I loved meeting Blue Ocean Bob
.

Upon receiving the book to review, I was thrilled by the quality of the illustrations. Each page is filled with beautiful illustrations that don't take away from or give away the story. The maps in the front and rear cover of the book have inspired my daughters to create and play with their own maps. I enjoyed the summary illustration on the dust jacket: "Set sail with Blue Ocean Bob on your own voyage of discovery! Purpose, Vision, Goals, Attitude, Persistence" The power words are each on their own type of fish background. It gives a good summary of what the book was about.
The flow of the poetry grabbed me. It's been quite some time since I read a children's book that told a good story with poetry. It took me back to the days that they wrote most things poetically so that it would be easier to remember or be remembered.
We started reading the story to our three girls at bedtime. Daddy got through the first chapter and the girls begged him to read just one more. He agreed to just one more. I took the book with me when I left the room for the night and he came searching for the book because he wanted to read it all to see how the story played out.
We have been studying alot on finding our purpose and how to be a better leader and follower. This book seemed the perfect addition to our growing library. My husband said that he really enjoyed how Mr. Olbrys shared the idea of purpose and leadership so that everyone could understand it. I really enjoyed that I can use this book with my kids to help them understand what we are studying and to help lead them on a journey of their own.
I will definitely be suggesting this book to all of my teacher friends and homeschooling parents. It's a book that many ages can enjoy and get the same message from.
